Before diving into Telegram, I would like to show you the table of contents.
Telegram is a freeware,
cross-platform, cloud-based instant messaging software and application service.
The service also provides end-to-end encrypted video calling, file sharing and
several other features.
The first step is to go to the download webpage
of Telegram.
Click on your operating
system, and then the download will automatically start.
Once the download is complete,
open the setup.
Select your language and
then click on the “OK” button.
It will ask you to set an
installation location, by default it will be saved in the C:\Users|[USERNAME]\AppData\Roaming\Telegram_Desktop,
if you want to change the installation location then click on the “Browse”
button, and then select the folder in which you want to install Telegram.
After selecting the
installation location, click on the “Next” button.
Click on the “Next” button
again.
Click on the “Next” button
again.
Click on the “Install”
button.
Now the installation has
been started, it may take a few minutes.
Now the installation is
over, click on the “Finish” button to close the setup.
Note: The in-app setup will
only occur after the installation.
Open Telegram, and then
click on the “Start Messaging” button.
It will ask you for your
mobile number, enter your mobile number and then click on the “NEXT” button.
Note: The mobile number is only
required for sign-up.
After clicking on the “NEXT”
button, it will ask you for the OTP (One Time Password), which will be sent to
your mobile number. Enter the OTP and then press “NEXT”.
Now it will ask you for your
first name & your last name, and you can also set your profile picture
(optional). After entering your first name & your last name, click on the
“SIGN UP” button.
Note: Your first name, last
name & profile picture can be seen by everyone. (But you can change this in
your settings.)
Done! Now we are ready to
use Telegram.
By clicking on the left menu
icon, you will be able see a lot of different tools/settings.
This is the most important
tool because from here you can customize Telegram, you can change privacy &
security settings, etc.
In the “Default Interface
Scale” section, you can change the size of the display.
In the “Privacy &
Security” tab, you change some of the most important privacy & security
settings.
In the "Chat
Settings" tab, you can change backgrounds, key preferences, etc.
In the “Notifications” tab,
you can change your notification preferences, and you will find everything
related to notifications in this tab.
In the "Language"
tab, you can change the language of Telegram.
In the "Advanced"
tab, you will mostly find settings related to automation and downloads.
In the "Edit
profile" tab, you can change your first name, last name, bio and your
profile picture.
To create a channel, click
on the menu icon present on the top left of the screen.
Click on “New Channel”.
Now it will ask you for a
channel name and its description (optional), after entering the channel name,
click on the “Create” button.
Now it’s asking you that
whether you want to make this channel public or private.
After the selecting the type
of channel, click on the “Create” button.
This is the final step of
creating a channel, you will see your contacts (only those who use Telegram)
here, select the contacts and then click on the “ADD” button, and if you don’t
want to add any participant now, then you can click on the “SKIP” button.
Done! Now we are ready to
chat in the channel.
To create a group, click on
the menu icon present on the top left of the screen.
Click on “New Group”.
Now it will ask you for a group
name, after entering the group name, click on the “NEXT” button.
This is the final step of
creating a group, you will see your contacts (only those who use Telegram)
here, select the contacts and then click on the “CREATE” button.
Done! Now we are ready to
chat in the group.
To chat with a particular
person, click on the menu icon present on the top left of the screen.
Click on “Contacts”.
Select the contact with whom
you want to chat, and then click on “ADD CONTACT”.
Now the contact will be
shown on the home of screen of Telegram, and from there you can start writing
messages.
• Click on “Broadcast a
message” to write a message.
• Click on the clip icon 📎 to attach
a file.
• Click on the 😊 icon to use emoticons.
• Click on the 🎙 icon to
send a voice message.
To turn on night mode, click
on the menu icon present on the top left of the screen.
Enable “Night Mode”.
